Fatal Tucson shooting death of Pima Community College student – Obituary
Authorities are actively searching for a suspect involved in the fatal shooting of a man on the University of Arizona campus late Sunday night.
The incident occurred around 11 p.m. near the Arizona-Sonora Hall dormitory, close to Park Avenue and Fourth Street. According to police, a confrontation among several individuals escalated, leading to the suspect shooting the victim on the volleyball courts east of the dorms. Witnesses tried to transport the victim to the hospital but instead waited in a parking lot until emergency responders arrived.
When officers reached the scene, they found the college student lying near a car. Despite efforts by University of Arizona Police and emergency medical personnel, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The deceased was later identified as a student at Pima Community College.
No other injuries were reported in the incident, and the suspect fled the area before police arrived. The suspect is described as a male, approximately six feet tall, between 19 and 25 years old, with dark skin. He is believed to be of Middle Eastern or Hispanic descent, has dark curly hair, facial hair, and was last seen wearing a white short-sleeved T-shirt and tan shorts. Witnesses reported that the suspect used a small black handgun.
Police have cordoned off the area, blocking access to the volleyball courts as they continue their investigation. The search for the suspect is ongoing.
