Andrew Castellanos dies in fatal Palm Desert crash
Fatal Palm Desert crash death of Andrew Castellanos – Obituary.
The Riverside County coroner has identified the individual who perished in a crash on Varner Road near Palm Desert as 18-year-old Andrew Castellanos, a resident of Cathedral City.
On Tuesday morning at approximately 8 a.m., Castellanos was driving eastbound in a Lexus sedan on Varner Road, located west of Washington Street, when he reportedly lost control of the vehicle. According to a press release from the California Highway Patrol, he overcorrected to the right, causing the Lexus to veer into the westbound lanes where it collided with a Ford pickup truck towing a utility trailer.
Emergency responders pronounced Castellanos dead at the scene, which was situated on Varner Road near Bager Street. Two individuals in the pickup reported experiencing pain, but the extent of their injuries was not detailed by the CHP.
Initially, Cal Fire indicated that Castellanos’ vehicle struck a tree; however, the CHP did not mention this in their release and did not provide further clarification when asked.
