A tragic incident occurred in Dormont, Pennsylvania, where a man lost his life after being struck by a vehicle while riding his motorcycle. Authorities reported that the collision happened around 10:40 p.m. on Saturday near the intersection of Pioneer and West Liberty avenues.
First responders arrived on the scene to find the motorcyclist in critical condition. Despite being rushed to the hospital, 23-year-old Christian Sluka succumbed to his injuries. To assist his family with funeral costs, a GoFundMe page has been established.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as a red Ford Taurus, fled the scene on foot along with a woman and a child. On Sunday evening, Allegheny County police arrested 25-year-old Saul Rivera-Ramirez, charging him with homicide by vehicle and related offenses.
Investigators revealed that Rivera-Ramirez is an undocumented immigrant, prompting the involvement of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The Department of Homeland Security has indicated that if Rivera-Ramirez is convicted, a removal process may commence, which can lead to deportation prior to sentencing.
An online court record shows that Rivera-Ramirez is currently being held without bail as he awaits a preliminary hearing.
