Fatal Gibraltar holiday death of David Knowles – Obituary.
The remains of a journalist who passed away while vacationing in Gibraltar have been returned to his family as authorities continue to look into the circumstances surrounding his death. David Knowles, aged 32, who reported on the Ukraine war for the Daily Telegraph, died earlier this month.
Counter-terrorism officers from the UK, who were brought in to support the Royal Gibraltar Police (RGP) investigation, have since returned home. A post-mortem examination was conducted at St Bernard’s Hospital in the British overseas territory on September 12, and a coroner’s inquiry is currently ongoing.
The RGP stated that there are no particular concerns regarding the cause of death, and the investigation remains active. Following Mr. Knowles’s passing, a representative for the family commented: “We acknowledge the statement from the RGP regarding David, especially their assurance that ‘there are no specific concerns at this time with regard to the death.’ We do not wish to comment further while investigations are ongoing and request that the family’s privacy be honored.”
