A 17-year-old from Statesboro has been charged with murder following the tragic shooting of 46-year-old Eric Alexander Reese at Park Place Apartments on Friday night, according to police reports.
The Statesboro Police Department confirmed that Reese, a resident of the apartment complex, was killed during an altercation involving firearms around 8:30 p.m. Friday.
The suspect, identified as Lester Parrish, was apprehended the following morning at the Avenue at Southern on Georgia Avenue. He has been charged with murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Currently, Parrish is being held without bond at the Bulloch County Jail, awaiting further court proceedings.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered Reese unresponsive. Following the shooting, multiple individuals were taken into custody, including five suspects who fled into a nearby field after the incident.
Bulloch County Coroner Jake Futch reported being called to East Georgia Regional Medical Center to respond to a gunshot victim. Various law enforcement agencies, including the Statesboro Police Department, Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia Southern University Police, and the Georgia State Patrol, were present at the scene.
