Fatal Milwaukee crash death of Erin Mogensen – Obituary.

A Milwaukee man has been found guilty in connection with a tragic crash that resulted in the death of a pregnant woman. The incident occurred in November 2023 at the intersection of 100th and Capitol. Medical examiners confirmed that the victim, Erin Mogensen, was several weeks pregnant at the time of her passing.

On Wednesday, a jury convicted 21-year-old Frank Mosley on multiple charges, including first-degree reckless homicide, first-degree reckless homicide concerning an unborn child, hit-and-run resulting in death, and fleeing from law enforcement. He is set to be sentenced in November.

Details of the case reveal that on November 2, 2023, a Wauwatosa police officer was pursuing a stolen BMW that had evaded a traffic stop, but the pursuit was terminated before the collision occurred. Surveillance footage from a nearby gas station captured the moment when the victim’s vehicle entered the intersection and was struck by the hit-and-run driver. The footage also showed the driver fleeing the scene on foot.

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner identified Erin Mogensen as the deceased, who tragically died at the crash site. They reported that she was pregnant at the time of the incident.

According to the criminal complaint, investigators accessed data from the airbag control module of the stolen vehicle, which indicated that the BMW was traveling at 116 mph before the crash, reducing speed to 78 mph just before impact, despite the speed limit being 35 mph at that location.

After discovering a Walmart receipt in the abandoned BMW, police examined surveillance footage from the store and noted a man with a distinctive clock tattoo on his hand exiting the vehicle and entering the store.

When officers approached the residence where the BMW was initially stolen, they observed a man signaling to a woman inside. The woman did not disclose the man’s identity. When officers commanded the man to show his hands, he retreated inside and shut a window. To prevent his escape, police entered the home, where they identified Mosley as the man with the clock tattoo.

Further investigation revealed charred clothing and partially burned documents with “BMW North” written on them inside a grill located in the backyard of the property. Additionally, a key fob for the BMW was found in the house where Mosley was taken into custody.

During questioning, Mosley claimed he had possessed the vehicle for about a week prior to the crash but stated it had been stolen from him and that he hadn’t driven it since. He provided no reasonable explanation for the presence of the BMW at the home where he was arrested.
