A woman who had been missing since early August was discovered deceased in her vehicle, which is thought to have veered off a steep embankment on Highway 138. Myrtle Creek Police officials reported that around 9:27 a.m. on September 25, an ODOT employee working on Highway 138 East, near milepost 53, noticed a vehicle down a steep slope. Oregon State Police arrived at the location and confirmed it was the vehicle of 69-year-old Kathleen Wilson from McMinnville, who had been reported missing on August 5. Police later identified her body within the car.
Authorities stated that Wilson was driving eastbound on Highway 138 East when, for an unknown reason, her vehicle crossed the road and plummeted down the embankment, landing in an area not visible to passing motorists. The Douglas County Medical Examiner’s Office has taken possession of her remains, and her next of kin has been informed.
