Fatal Nipomo motorcycle accident claims life of Levi Lopez – Obituary
A 37-year-old motorcyclist named Levi Lopez from Nipomo was killed in a crash near Nipomo on Tuesday afternoon. The accident occurred around 4:15 p.m. at the intersection of Hutton Road and Joshua Street.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Lopez was traveling northbound on his Harley-Davidson when a Nissan pickup, heading southbound, made a U-turn in front of him. Lopez’s motorcycle collided with the passenger side of the truck, causing him to be ejected from the bike. Despite wearing safety gear, Lopez died at the scene.
The driver of the Nissan, identified as 36-year-old Genaro Cortez Beltran from Bakersfield, attempted to flee the scene along with the other occupants of the truck. They were soon caught by an off-duty CHP officer. Drugs or alcohol are not believed to have contributed to the crash.
Beltran has been arrested, and the investigation is ongoing.
