Murfreesboro police have confirmed the identity of the motorcyclist who tragically lost his life in a crash that occurred on Saturday. The victim, 69-year-old Michael Jenkins from La Vergne, succumbed to his injuries following the incident on Broad Street.
Jenkins was pronounced dead at the hospital after colliding with a 2018 Toyota Rav4, which was making a left turn onto Singer Road while Jenkins was riding south on Broad Street. According to the authorities, the driver of the Toyota did not yield the right of way.
Despite wearing a helmet that met Department of Transportation standards, Jenkins did not have a face shield. The investigation into the crash is ongoing, led by FACT investigators.
Authorities are reminding drivers to “Look Twice” for motorcycles, cyclists, and pedestrians to enhance road safety.
