In a tragic incident, five police officers returning from their duty during the Edo State gubernatorial election lost their lives in a road accident. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed that the accident took place in the early hours of Tuesday along the Zaria-Kano road at Karfi Village, near the Trailer Park.
The FRSC reported that the collision involved two vehicles: a trailer and a Toyota Hummer Bus with the registration number 14B101KN, which belonged to Kanoline. The crash, occurring around 1:15 AM, resulted in a total of fifteen individuals being involved. Unfortunately, five officers perished in the incident, while ten others sustained various injuries. All the deceased were members of the Nigeria Police Force who had been deployed to Edo State for election monitoring.
Initial investigations by the FRSC indicated that excessive speeding was the cause of the accident, leading the driver of the Hummer bus to lose control and crash into a parked trailer.
