Sitaleki Filihiahekava dies in fatal Marrickville stabbing
Fatal Marrickville stabbing death of Sitaleki Filihiahekava – Obituary.
A man has been taken into custody following the tragic stabbing of a popular rugby league player in Marrickville. Emergency responders arrived at Marrickville Road in Sydney’s Inner West around 7:40 PM on Monday after receiving reports of an assault.
Sitaleki Filihiahekava, 32, was discovered with severe injuries and ultimately succumbed to them at the scene, located outside a Guzman y Gomez restaurant. He was a player for the Mascot Juniors.
Authorities indicated that a suspect was spotted fleeing down Silver Street shortly after the incident. At the time of the attack, Filihiahekava’s family was dining at a nearby restaurant.
A 31-year-old individual was apprehended around 5:40 PM today in Concord. As of now, no formal charges have been filed.
