A teenager from Kannapolis has been arrested in connection with a shooting that took place on Tuesday in Charlotte, resulting in the deaths of two men and injuring a third. The incident occurred just before midnight on Beatties Ford Road in a commercial area. Officers from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to a 911 call and discovered three victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
One of the victims, 27-year-old Jadarius Marticee McCullough, was declared dead at the scene. Another victim, 19-year-old Quaveon Jeremiah Robinson, passed away two days later in the hospital. The third person involved was treated for injuries that were not life-threatening, though their identity has not been made public.
On Friday, police arrested 18-year-old Jaylin Lamont Johnson in connection with the shooting. Johnson now faces charges of murder, attempted murder, and discharging a firearm in an occupied area with the intent to incite fear. Authorities have not yet disclosed the evidence that led to Johnson’s arrest or any potential motive behind the attack.
McCullough had been a high school basketball player, previously coached by Juanrique Hall, a community advocate and school board candidate. Hall expressed deep sorrow over the loss, stating the tragedy was personal due to his connection with McCullough during his time on the West Charlotte High championship basketball team.
Authorities continue to ask anyone with information regarding the case to reach out to the homicide unit or provide anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers.
