Fatal Clark County bicycle crash death of Andrew Niedzwicki – Obituary.
A 65-year-old man, Andrew Niedzwicki, tragically lost his life when the bicycle he was riding was struck by a semi-truck on County Trunk Highway N near Dickerson Avenue in the Township of Worden, located just south of Thorp.
According to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred on Tuesday, September 17, at approximately 8:46 a.m. Preliminary investigations reveal that a semi-truck driven by 63-year-old Richard Wnek was traveling east on CTH N when it collided with Niedzwicki, who was also riding in the same direction. Niedzwicki was positioned close to the south shoulder of the highway when the passing semi struck him, causing him to be thrown from his bicycle onto the roadway’s shoulder.
Following the accident, Wnek stopped to report the incident. Niedzwicki was subsequently taken by the Thorp Area Ambulance Service to Stanley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead due to his injuries.
Emergency responders included the Thorp Area Fire and Ambulance Service, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, the Clark County Highway Department, the Wisconsin State Patrol, and Clark County Coroner Clarissa Rochester. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
