Dense fog created hazardous conditions Wednesday morning, leading to a head-on collision on Highway 412 near Catoosa, Oklahoma. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol confirmed that two drivers, Jarrett Sites and Christopher Dallis, both from Broken Arrow, died at the scene after a wrong-way driver traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes collided with another vehicle.

The crash occurred on Highway 412, shutting down eastbound traffic for more than three hours near 265th East Avenue. The heavy fog significantly reduced visibility, contributing to the accident. According to witnesses, visibility was so poor that drivers could barely see ahead of their vehicles, with fog enveloping the area.

Christy Hamilton, who narrowly avoided the crash after finishing her shift at The Hard Rock Casino, described the conditions as treacherous. “I could barely see the stoplights. The fog was so thick, it erased everything beyond the next light,” she said.

Another driver involved in the crash, whose pickup truck ended up in the median, recounted the chaos, saying he couldn’t avoid the wrecked vehicles. Fortunately, he escaped with only minor injuries.

Lieutenant Southall of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol emphasized the need for extra caution in such conditions, advising drivers to allow more time for travel and to increase distance between vehicles when visibility is compromised. “Fog reduces visibility drastically, especially in rural areas,” Southall noted. “We don’t want to see more fatalities in these dangerous conditions.”

The identities of the two victims, Jarrett Sites and Christopher Dallis, were released by OHP later that day.
