John Jacob dies in fatal Elgin train accident
Fatal Elgin train accident claims the life of John Jacob – Obituary
The pedestrian who was struck by a train near Elgin last week has been identified as John Jacob, a 73-year-old resident of Elgin. The Kane County Coroner’s Office reported that Jacob died on September 17 after being hit by a CPKC train on the tracks close to Coombs Road, just north of Highland Avenue in Rutland Township. Authorities are still waiting for toxicology test results to determine the cause of death. The Kane County Coroner’s Office, in coordination with the Kane County Sheriff’s Office and the Canadian Pacific Railway Police, continues to investigate the incident.
