Fatal Chestermere shooting death of Colin Hough – Obituary.
Two suspects have been identified in the fatal shooting of 45-year-old Colin Hough, who was killed in a carjacking incident east of Calgary on August 6. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) responded to reports of a shooting at a rural intersection at Range Road 282 and Township Road 250, just north of Chestermere. Upon arrival, officers found Hough, a Rocky View County employee, fatally wounded, while a FortisAlberta employee sustained a superficial injury.
The RCMP have arrested 35-year-old Arthur Wayne Penner in Edmonton, charging him with first-degree murder. Penner is scheduled to appear in court later this week. Authorities have also issued second-degree murder warrants for 28-year-old Elijah Blake Strawberry, who remains at large. Strawberry, considered armed and dangerous, is described as six feet one inch tall with a light complexion and several tattoos on his arms and face.
According to the RCMP, the two suspects were involved in a minor collision while driving a stolen vehicle in Calgary, leading them to search for a new vehicle. Hough, acting as a Good Samaritan, was fatally shot in what police describe as a carjacking. Authorities are urging the public to call 911 if they see Strawberry and not approach him.
