On Friday night, September 29, 2024, a 24-year-old man named Austin Stanek was killed in a hit-and-run incident near Island Lake. The collision occurred around 10:50 p.m. in the 4300 block of Roberts Road, according to the Lake County Coroner’s Office.
Stanek was transported to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital, where he was pronounced dead in the emergency room. An autopsy revealed that he died from blunt force injuries sustained in the crash.
