The victim of a violent incident that occurred during a night out has been identified as Cameron Duce, a 22-year-old resident of the Gold Coast. Cameron passed away on Saturday at Gold Coast University Hospital, a week after he was allegedly punched while walking home from a night out on September 22. The incident took place at approximately 2:30 a.m. at the intersection of The Esplanade and First Avenue in Burleigh Heads.
Witnesses reported seeing a group of five individuals fleeing the scene in a vehicle. Cameron’s father, Chris Duce, shared an emotional tribute on social media, expressing his deep love for his son and the profound loss felt by the family. An 18-year-old man has been charged with unlawful striking causing death in connection with the incident and is scheduled to appear in court. Chris noted that Cameron spent seven days in intensive care before the family was informed that recovery was impossible. He emphasized the love and support Cameron received from his family and friends, stating that the impact of his loss would be felt indefinitely.
