Fatal Dauphin County crash death of Munjal Utkarsh – Obituary.
Munjal Utkarsh, a 23-year-old resident of Manassas, Virginia, was killed in a crash on I-81 in East Hanover Township on Sunday evening. He was pronounced dead at the scene after the Jeep Wrangler he was riding in left the highway and went into the center median around 6 p.m., during rainy weather, as reported by the Dauphin County coroner’s office.
According to state police, the Jeep crossed both lanes of southbound I-81, crashed through a guardrail, and overturned while descending an embankment. The vehicle ultimately came to rest at the bottom of the hill. The driver and a back-seat passenger were taken to a hospital with moderate injuries.
The coroner has not yet released the cause or manner of Utkarsh’s death, and an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the driver’s loss of control and have not disclosed the driver’s identity. Following the crash, I-81 was closed for several hours before reopening around 11 p.m.
