Hunter Meyers, a 10-year-old boy, tragically lost his life after being stabbed in a Donegal Township home in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. The incident occurred on Thursday morning, prompting a significant police response to the residence on Donegal Lake Road.
Authorities confirmed that Meyers was visiting the home when the stabbing took place. His mother shared heartfelt memories of her son, recalling his love for playing Xbox, riding quads, and fishing. Hunter had aspirations of becoming either a police officer or a diesel mechanic, reflecting his passion for diesel trucks and admiration for law enforcement.
Police have charged 13-year-old James Campbell with criminal homicide and first-degree murder in connection with the stabbing. According to the police report, Campbell was found at the scene with blood on his hands and feet. During an interview at the state police station in Greensburg, he reportedly admitted to stabbing Meyers multiple times in the head.
Investigators have yet to determine a motive for the attack. Trooper Steve Limani remarked on the perplexing nature of the incident, emphasizing that both families are now facing unimaginable grief. Campbell was arraigned at the county courthouse, where no bond was set, and a hearing is scheduled for August 9.
