Fatal K-96 collision death of Joseph Bailey Clementi – Obituary.
Joseph Bailey Clementi, a 34-year-old resident of Wichita, tragically lost his life on Monday morning after his cargo van collided with a semi-truck along K-96, northwest of Wichita. The Kansas Highway Patrol reported the accident occurred at approximately 5:55 a.m. near 151st Street West, north of Colwich and Maize.
Clementi was driving a 2000 GMC G1500 cargo van west on K-96 when he left his lane, crossed the median, and struck the trailer of a semi-truck that was stopped at a sign facing south. The driver of the semi-truck, a 57-year-old woman from Emporia, was unharmed.
Clementi was known for his involvement with Phlox Kansas, a group of fire-spinning performers that previously showcased their talent in Wichita’s Old Town Square. Tributes have poured in on social media, with one individual expressing the sentiment that “the word is going to be a little less brighter now that you’re gone.”
