A tragic accident in Fairfield has resulted in the death of 24-year-old Keshaun Austin and left another person hospitalized. The incident occurred early Tuesday morning on Mack Road, just before 2 a.m., when Austin’s vehicle collided with a utility pole. He was pronounced dead at the Mercy Fairfield Emergency Room shortly after the crash, as confirmed by the Butler County Coroner’s Office.
Following the accident, the road was closed for several hours while Duke Energy crews worked to restore power in the area. Initial reports indicated that one individual was ejected from the vehicle, which prompted the dispatch of a medical helicopter. A female passenger was also trapped inside and required assistance from first responders to be freed. The passenger was subsequently transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and is listed in stable condition. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
