Fatal Ector County accident death of Kevin Alexia Ramirez Vasquez – Obituary

Trooper Kevin Alexia Ramirez Vasquez, a 25-year-old member of the Texas Department of Public Safety, tragically passed away after being struck by a vehicle while responding to another crash. The incident occurred on September 17 on State Highway 302 in Ector County.

 

Initially hospitalized with severe injuries, Trooper Vasquez was subsequently airlifted to a specialized medical facility, where he succumbed to his injuries on Saturday. Department of Public Safety Director Steven McCraw praised Vasquez’s dedication to his duty, stating, “His commitment to keeping the roads safe, protecting the people of Texas and the sacrifice he made will never be forgotten.”

 

Having joined the Texas Department of Public Safety in 2023, Vasquez was based in Odessa at the time of his death. He previously served in the U.S. Army and was in the National Guard. Director McCraw urged the community to keep the trooper’s family, friends, and colleagues in their thoughts during this challenging time.
