The Peoria County Coroner has identified the victim of a Sunday night shooting as 10-year-old Lamar Johnson, II from Springfield, Illinois. According to Coroner Jamie Harwood, Johnson died from a gunshot wound to the chest, likely passing away within seconds of the incident.
The shooting occurred around 7:35 p.m. in the 600 block of Romeo B. Garrett Avenue at the Cityscape Apartments. Peoria Police are still investigating, with no word on a suspect at this time.
