Fatal Peoria shooting death of 10-year-old Lamar Johnson II – Obituary.
Authorities have confirmed that 10-year-old Lamar Johnson II from Springfield was killed in a shooting incident at the Cityscape Apartments on Sunday night. Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood reported that Johnson suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and likely succumbed to his injuries within seconds.
“My heart breaks for this innocent little boy. May God be with his soul,” Harwood expressed in a statement.
The Peoria Police Department received a ShotSpotter alert around 7:35 p.m. regarding gunfire on the 600 block of Romeo B. Garrett Avenue. Currently, there are no details about a suspect, and the investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
