Authorities have identified a woman who tragically lost her life after being ejected from her vehicle in Layton on Sunday. Emma Gordhamer, a 25-year-old resident of Holladay, was driving a Honda Odyssey when she crashed while exiting the off-ramp at milepost 332 toward Antelope Drive. The accident resulted in Gordhamer’s death at the scene, while a 3-year-old child who was also ejected from the vehicle was taken to a local hospital in critical condition after receiving life-saving assistance from troopers.
The Utah Highway Patrol reported that Gordhamer had been pursued by law enforcement from Salt Lake County into Davis County due to her excessive speed. UHP Lt. Cameron Roden noted that despite the presence of an officer, Gordhamer did not alter her driving behavior. Just moments before the deadly crash, the pursuit was called off when she attempted to exit Interstate 15. Although it remains unconfirmed whether the child was related to Gordhamer, the investigation into the incident is ongoing, and authorities anticipate that it will take several months to complete their inquiries into the crash.
