On the morning of September 28, 2024, Ethel Evans, a 72-year-old woman, was tragically killed after being struck by a Toyota Tundra while walking on a sidewalk along Scott Street in Houston. The accident occurred after the driver of the Tundra, Alexandre Segal, 49, collided with the rear of a Toyota Corolla, causing his vehicle to veer onto the sidewalk where Evans was hit.
Evans was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities later determined that Segal was intoxicated at the time of the crash, and he has since been charged with intoxication manslaughter.
The tragic loss highlights the ongoing dangers of drunk driving, with investigations continuing to determine further details, including Segal’s blood-alcohol content at the time of the accident.
