Fatal Waco drag boat race death of Frank Carter – Obituary.
In a tragic event at the “Duel on the Brazos” drag boat racing competition in Waco, Texas, a serious accident occurred on Sunday, resulting in the death of a participant. According to Waco Police spokesman Bryton Johnson, the incident involved a single-driver boat that became airborne while racing at speeds estimated to reach 200 miles per hour.
During the race, the boat began to flip, and the driver was ejected into the water. Emergency medical teams were able to retrieve the driver within a minute; however, he was unresponsive upon recovery and was later pronounced dead. An autopsy was not deemed necessary.
The deceased was identified as Frank Carter. Waco Fire Department Executive Deputy Chief Robbie Bergerson noted that, although the Water Rescue and Dive Team was not assigned standby duties for the event, an engine company was dispatched to assist ambulance crews with care after Carter was pulled from the water.
