The body of Jessica Barnes, a 20-year-old woman from Pendleton, South Carolina, was discovered in a wooded area after she had been missing for nearly two months. According to the Anderson County Coroner, her remains were found in Pickens County, where the investigation later revealed that she had been killed in Pendleton.
Barnes was reported missing by her mother on September 10, after she hadn’t been seen since August 1. Reports indicate that her husband, Brandon Barnes, along with her two roommates, Kendall Mims and Victoria Tippett, have been charged in connection with her death. Brandon is facing murder charges, while Mims and Tippett are charged with accessory after the fact, obstruction of justice, and neglect in reporting a crime.
An autopsy determined that Jessica died from asphyxiation due to strangulation, and her death has been classified as a homicide. The investigation is ongoing, with the Pendleton Police Department, SLED, and the Pickens County Coroner’s Office involved in the case.
