On September 25, a heartbreaking accident occurred in East Austin when a pedestrian was fatally struck by two vehicles. The victim, 28-year-old Kameron Hartman, was attempting to cross midblock in the 4600 block of E. Martin Luther King Jr Blvd when he was first hit by a white SUV, followed by another vehicle. Despite the immediate response from law enforcement, Kameron was declared dead at the scene.
The driver of the white SUV remained at the location and is cooperating with the investigation, while the driver of the second vehicle fled the scene without offering assistance. This incident marks the 66th fatal crash in Austin this year, contributing to a total of 71 fatalities. Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the incident to contact the Austin Police Department or reach out to Crime Stoppers anonymously.
