Fatal east Charlotte shooting death of Khyre Grier – Obituary
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) is investigating a homicide that took place in east Charlotte, resulting in the death of 25-year-old Khyre Grier. Officers conducted a welfare check on Eastcrest Drive near Central Avenue on September 26, where they found Grier suffering from a gunshot wound.
Emergency medical personnel pronounced Grier dead at the scene. Following their investigation, authorities obtained warrants for 49-year-old Fabio Funes, who has been arrested and charged with murder. Further investigation revealed the involvement of another suspect, identified as 34-year-old Ramon Funes, who is currently wanted in connection with Grier’s murder.
Detectives are actively searching for Ramon Funes and are urging anyone with information about his location to contact the Violent Crimes Apprehension Team (VCAT) at 704-336-VCAT (8228). Individuals with tips can also reach out to Crime Stoppers at (704)-334-1600, where they can remain anonymous and potentially receive a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest.
Authorities have warned that Ramon Funes should be considered armed and dangerous. The Crime Stoppers program guarantees anonymity for callers and does not require them to appear in court.
