Fatal Nelson, Wisconsin, motorcycle crash results in the death of Mark Holzer and Brian Shank – Obituary.
Authorities in western Wisconsin have identified two men from the Rochester area who tragically died in a multi-vehicle collision last Friday. The accident occurred shortly after 10:30 AM, roughly one mile south of Nelson, near the Mississippi River across from Wabasha. The victims, both aged 59, were riding their motorcycles when a pickup truck crossed the center line on Highway 35 and struck them.
According to the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office, Holzer, a resident of Pine Island, and Shank, from Chatfield, were both killed in the crash. An obituary for Holzer highlights their close friendship, noting that a joint “celebration of life” for both men is scheduled for Saturday afternoon at the Winona County Fairgrounds in Holzer’s hometown of St. Charles.
Another motorcycle was involved in the incident; however, its rider sustained only minor injuries. The driver of the pickup truck remained unharmed. An investigation into the fatal crash is currently ongoing.
