Michael A. Dart dies in fatal Alexandria motorcycle crash

Fatal Alexandria motorcycle crash death of Michael A. Dart – Obituary.

Michael A. Dart, a 20-year-old motorcyclist from Washington, D.C., was killed in a tragic accident on Interstate 495 in Alexandria on Saturday afternoon. The incident occurred just before 2 p.m. in the local lanes of I-495 westbound near the Telegraph Road exit.

Dart was riding a 2012 Yamaha YZF-R1 when he collided with the driver-side rear door of a Toyota 4Runner. The impact caused his motorcycle to bounce off the 4Runner and strike the rear of a third vehicle, which did not stay at the scene. Following this, Dart and his motorcycle were thrown onto the left shoulder, where they struck a jersey wall.

Although Dart was wearing a helmet, he was found unresponsive at the scene and later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. The driver of the 4Runner escaped unharmed, and the investigation into the crash is ongoing, with the make and model of the third vehicle still unknown. Dart marks the second motorcyclist fatality in Alexandria this year, as the city continues its efforts to eliminate deadly accidents, having recorded none in 2023.
