On the night of September 29, 2024, a tragic DUI incident occurred at the intersection of Tustin Street and Collins Avenue in Orange, California, involving 18-year-old Roberto Noe Monfil Xitlama. While driving a Chevy Equinox southbound on Tustin Street, Xitlama collided with a Toyota RAV4 traveling west on Collins Avenue. The crash resulted in the death of a woman in the front passenger seat of the Toyota, while her daughter was critically injured and transported to a local hospital. Two additional passengers from the Toyota, including a juvenile, were also taken to hospitals in serious but stable condition.
Xitlama, who sustained no serious injuries, was found to have a blood alcohol level more than twice the legal limit and was driving without a license. He has been arrested on charges of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and is currently being held at the Orange County jail.
