Roberto Noe Monfil-Xitlama dies in fatal Orange DUI crash
Fatal Orange DUI crash results in the death of 40-year-old Maria Minerva Arroyo-Lozada
In a tragic incident in Orange, California, 40-year-old Maria Minerva Arroyo-Lozada was killed, and three others were seriously injured in a suspected drunken driving collision on Sunday evening. The accused, 18-year-old Roberto Noe Monfil-Xitlama, has been charged with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and multiple other DUI-related felonies.
The crash occurred around 8 p.m. at the intersection of Tustin Street and Collins Avenue. According to the Orange Police Department, Monfil-Xitlama was driving a Chevy Equinox south on Tustin when he allegedly ran a red light and collided with a westbound Toyota RAV4.
Arroyo-Lozada’s daughter, who was in the Toyota, was critically injured in the crash but was later upgraded to serious condition at the hospital. Additionally, another 13-year-old girl, a friend of Arroyo-Lozada’s daughter, was also hospitalized in serious condition. The mother’s boyfriend, who was driving the Toyota, sustained serious injuries as well.
Police reported that Monfil-Xitlama’s blood-alcohol content was more than double the legal limit at the time of the accident. He also faces charges for driving without a valid license.
