A tragic incident occurred on September 28, 2024, when a hit-and-run crash claimed the life of 72-year-old Franklin Ripley in Stockbridge. The Berkshire County District Attorney’s Office reported that the accused driver, 36-year-old Samantha C. Paige of West Stockbridge, was involved in the accident and subsequently arrested.
The collision took place just before 6:45 a.m. on Route 102, where Ripley was riding a scooter. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Paige was apprehended on October 1 and brought before the Central Berkshire District Court, where her bail was set at $7,500. She is currently being held without bail due to a probation warrant related to an unrelated case.
