A tragic accident took place near Columbus on Wednesday morning, resulting in the death of 36-year-old Echo Suy. The Platte County Sheriff’s Office responded to the collision at 7:35 a.m. at the intersection of E. 83rd Street and E. 14th Avenue, involving a 2018 Chevy Malibu driven by Suy and a 2012 Buick Enclave. Investigators found that Suy was driving southbound when her vehicle was struck on the driver’s side by the westbound Enclave. Both cars ended up in a nearby field.
Upon arrival, responders found the Enclave engulfed in flames, with two minors having escaped the vehicle. Columbus Fire and Rescue later extricated Suy from the wreckage. All individuals involved were transported to Columbus Community Hospital, where Suy was pronounced dead, while the minors suffered only minor injuries. Authorities confirmed that alcohol was not a factor in the accident, and a reconstruction revealed that Suy was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
