On Tuesday afternoon, two individuals tragically lost their lives when a driver from Sterling lost control and crashed into a concrete barrier in Prince William County. The victims were identified as 67-year-old Liliana Nora Loschiavo Sierra, a resident of Woodbridge, and 90-year-old Alfredo Rodolfo Sobrero from Sterling.
Around 2:15 p.m. on October 1, the Prince William County Police Department received reports of a single-vehicle accident at the I-66 express exit ramp near University Boulevard. The incident involved a driver and two passengers who were critically injured.
According to investigators, a 75-year-old Sterling driver was operating a 2023 Audi Q5 westbound in the express lanes. When attempting to exit toward University Boulevard, the driver did not reduce speed or turn at the ramp’s end, continuing through the intersection, crossing all lanes, and ultimately colliding with a concrete barrier.
Emergency responders transported all three individuals to local hospitals, where Sierra and Sobrero were later pronounced dead. The driver sustained injuries that were not life-threatening.
The cause of the crash remains undetermined, and the investigation is ongoing.
