Following the shooting, Rivera fled to Interstate 190, where he began attempting to carjack vehicles at gunpoint, leading to a chaotic confrontation with law enforcement.
Witnesses reported a tense atmosphere as Rivera brandished his weapon and engaged with police, resulting in gunfire. Ultimately, Rivera turned the gun on himself and was pronounced dead at the scene.
