The Jefferson County coroner’s office has confirmed the identity of a truck driver who perished in a devastating crash near the Kennedy Bridge last weekend. Ahmed Ibrahim, 44, hailing from Temple Terrace, Florida, succumbed to smoke inhalation and severe burns following an incident on September 28. His semitruck collided with a guardrail on Interstate 65 South at Jefferson Street around 5 p.m.
The crash resulted in significant traffic disruptions, halting vehicles traveling from southern Indiana into Louisville. Southbound lanes were cleared and reopened around 9:30 p.m. that evening.
Earlier that same day, another semi-truck overturned at the same location near the Kennedy Bridge, spilling its load while heading southbound on I-65 at mile marker 136. That incident caused lane closures for approximately seven hours, with the interstate just having reopened before the second crash occurred.
