Early Thursday morning, a shooting occurred at an apartment complex in Miramar, resulting in the death of 36-year-old Alec Mathew Hugh-Sam. The incident took place around 7 a.m. in the 11300 block of Southwest 30th Court, where police found Hugh-Sam suffering from gunshot wounds.
He was immediately transported to Memorial Regional Hospital for treatment but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
According to Miramar Police Sgt. Tiffany Roy, the suspect fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival. As a precaution, a perimeter was established while police conducted a search for the shooter and spoke with potential witnesses to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Witnesses reported hearing screaming and commotion during the 911 call, but details regarding the number of individuals present at the scene remain unclear. The investigation is ongoing.
