Fatal Cottonwood Heights shooting death of Jennifer Gledhill – Obituary
Jennifer Gledhill, a 41-year-old woman from Utah, has been arrested on suspicion of murdering her missing husband, Matthew Johnson, under disturbing circumstances. Court documents reveal that Gledhill allegedly confessed to shooting her estranged husband in the head while he slept in their home in Cottonwood Heights. Following the incident, she reportedly buried Johnson in a shallow grave at an undisclosed location and attempted to destroy evidence to conceal the crime.
Authorities have not yet received a direct confession from Gledhill, and the search for Johnson’s body continues. Johnson, a member of the U.S. Military Special Operations Unit with the Utah National Guard, was last seen around September 20. Investigators found a significant bloodstain underneath the bed and signs of an extensive cleanup in the master bedroom, including evidence of bleaching and the ordering of a new mattress shortly after Johnson was reported missing.
The couple had been contemplating divorce since July, and Gledhill had previously sought a protective order against Johnson, which was dismissed just days before the alleged murder due to a lack of evidence of domestic violence. Gledhill remains in custody without bail as the investigation proceeds.
