The West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the identity of a body found in the Mississippi River as Kirk Craig Sr., a 63-year-old man who was wanted for the murder of his wife. The body was discovered by a fisherman on September 21 at approximately 6:30 p.m.
Investigators reported that the body was partially decomposed and was located on the riverbank. An autopsy and medical records were utilized to confirm Craig’s identity.
Craig was wanted in connection with a first-degree murder that occurred on September 9, where he allegedly stabbed his wife to death on Mead Road. Following the incident, a vehicle linked to Craig was found abandoned on I-10 over the Mississippi River. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death is ongoing.
