Fatal Niagara Falls daytime killing death of Lance Cunningham – Obituary
Niagara police have identified Lance Cunningham, a 47-year-old resident of Niagara Falls, as the victim of a homicide that occurred during an altercation while he was walking his dogs in John Allan Park on Wednesday.
Authorities responded to reports of a disturbance in the park, located near Kalar and McLeod roads, shortly before 3 p.m. Upon arrival, they found Cunningham suffering from severe injuries. Despite the life-saving efforts of Niagara EMS, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers from the NRPS Emergency Task Unit and the K9 Unit searched the area but did not locate a suspect. While a suspect remains unidentified, police have assured the public that there is no immediate danger.
A police spokesperson remarked on the tragic nature of the incident, noting that Cunningham was simply out for a walk with his dogs when the violence occurred. Information regarding the fate of his dogs has not been disclosed.
Community members expressed shock at the incident, with one resident commenting on the rarity of such violence in their neighborhood. The area will see an increased police presence over the coming days, and John Allan Park will remain closed during this time.
