A devastating two-vehicle collision on the Newell Highway in Tomingley claimed the lives of four individuals last week. The victims include 18-year-old Lochie Jacobs, his best friend 19-year-old Joey Urban, and a couple, 57-year-olds Sue and Graham Tait, all of whom perished in the tragic accident that occurred on Friday, September 27.
The pair of teenagers was traveling in a ute with a 23-year-old driver who survived the crash but sustained leg injuries and was treated at Dubbo Hospital.
Following investigations, the driver of the ute has been charged with multiple offenses, including four counts of dangerous driving causing death, failure to wear a seatbelt properly, and driving two passengers who were also not wearing seatbelts correctly. The accused was granted conditional bail and is set to appear in Dubbo Local Court in October.
Sue and Graham Tait, who hailed from Parkes, are survived by their five children, aged between 16 and 26 years. They are remembered for their contributions to the community, with tributes highlighting their impact. Friends and family of Jacobs and Urban have expressed their grief online, sharing memories and messages of love. Urban’s sister described him as the “best brother a sister could ask for,” while friends remembered the two boys as “two of the best blokes anyone could ask for.”
