A tragic car accident on Tuesday, October 1, claimed the life of 25-year-old Makenze T. Minkler from Rensselaer. The incident occurred around 4:50 p.m. on I-87, just north of the Exit 14 off-ramp in Saratoga Springs.
According to New York State Police Trooper Stephanie O’Neil, the collision involved two vehicles and resulted in Minkler’s car overturning multiple times. She was rushed to Saratoga Hospital with severe injuries but succumbed shortly after her arrival.
Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the crash, which led to the closure of the northbound Exit 14 off-ramp and the right lane of I-87 for approximately four hours while reconstruction efforts took place.
Additionally, a secondary three-car crash occurred as drivers reacted to the initial accident, causing further traffic delays. Fortunately, no significant injuries were reported from this secondary incident.
