An 81-year-old man, Raul M. Rosas, has been identified as the victim of a fatal fire that occurred late Wednesday in Peoria. Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood confirmed that Rosas was found dead in his home. An autopsy is scheduled for Friday to determine the cause of death.
Firefighters responded to the blaze around 9:30 p.m. at a residence in the 1800 block of West Garden. Upon arrival, they encountered heavy smoke throughout the house and flames in the rear. The fire was brought under control within 50 minutes, causing an estimated $85,000 in damage.
