Fatal Tucson DUI-related crash death of Risten Lee Robinson – Obituary.
A tragic incident on Tucson’s south side resulted in the death of 19-year-old Risten Lee Robinson early Saturday morning, September 29, 2024. The accident occurred shortly before 2:30 a.m. when a gray 2007 Chevrolet Silverado, traveling at a high speed on the Interstate-10 frontage road, rear-ended a white 2024 Kia Niro that had just turned onto the road from West Silverlake Road.
The impact caused the Silverado to spin and roll over. Robinson, one of six occupants in the pickup truck, was taken to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries later. The other five individuals in the truck sustained varying levels of injuries. The driver of the Kia suffered minor injuries, while her passenger was unharmed.
Preliminary investigations suggest that excessive speed and impaired driving were key factors in the crash. Although no criminal charges have yet been filed, the investigation remains ongoing.
