Fatal Outer Banks plane crash death of Shashwat Ajit Adhikari – Obituary
A tragic plane crash in the Outer Banks has resulted in the death of Shashwat Ajit Adhikari from Silver Spring, Maryland. The incident occurred on September 28 at the Wright Brothers National Memorial’s First Flight Airport, where five people, including a 6-year-old child, lost their lives.
Adhikari, 31, was aboard a single-engine Cirrus SR-22 that crashed into a wooded area while attempting to land. Witnesses reported that the pilot was in the process of landing when the crash took place.
The other victims identified in the crash were Jason Ray Campbell, 43, and Kate McAllister Neely, 39, both from Southern Pines, North Carolina, and Matthew Arthur Fassnacht, 44, from Marietta, Georgia. Sadly, there were no survivors from the crash.
David Hallac, superintendent of the Outer Banks Group, expressed condolences on behalf of the National Park Service to the families and friends affected by this tragedy. Video footage from local news outlets captured the charred remains of the aircraft in the wooded area near the airport.
