A plane crash at a private airfield near Roseburg resulted in the death of 65-year-old Steven H. Kretsinger from Eugene on October 3. The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. at Felt’s Field.
According to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, emergency dispatchers received calls from workers at the airfield reporting that a small, single-engine plane had crashed while attempting to land. Witnesses stated that the aircraft approached for a landing but ran out of runway, attempted another landing, bounced, struck a tree, and subsequently nosedived into the ground.
Emergency responders, including deputies, firefighters, and medics, arrived at the scene. Sadly, Kretsinger was pronounced dead at the site of the crash. Investigators from the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board have been notified and are looking into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
